Reproductive Biotechnology Research Center Introduction

Reproductive Biotechnology Research Center (RBRC) was founded in 1998 by diligent attempts of some specialists in the field of infertility and basic medical sciences after obtaining the approval from board of trustees at Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR). On 10th of July 1999, the permission to establish the Research Center was issued by Ministry of Health and Medical Education after the final verdict of Development Council of Universities of Medical Sciences.
The Center consists of three research groups including Personalized Medicine in Reproductive Health, Andrology and Embryology, and Reproductive Immunobiology and conducts numerous research projects in related fields based on its priorities and policies financed by domestic and international funds.
One of the distinguished features of this center is accomplishing research projects and therapeutic activities by cooperation of medical and clinical basic sciences specialists in different fields of embryology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, obstetrics and gynecology, andrology, endocrinology, infections, and tropical diseases and so on.
Relative novelty of reproductive and infertility sciences in the previous two decades on the one hand and their increasing development on the other, have created a vast area of researches which exacerbated the planning in all new dimensions.
With respect to this fact, this Research Center has set its research priorities in reproduction and infertility on recurrent abortion, endometriosis, unknown infertility, stem cells, transgenic animals, embryology, reproductive infections, and male and female infertility with genetic factors.
So far, lots of papers and abstracts have been published at national and international levels related to various completed or ongoing projects in this center.
Establishment of Avicenna Fertility Center was one of the noticeable achievements of ARI, which was launched in close collaboration with Universitäres Kinderwunschzentrum Lübeck - IVF Center in Germany and supervision of founding father of IVF in Iran, Prof. Saafa Al-Hassani.
Also, the establishment of Biofarm Research and Development Center, set up in the ACECR Complex (Heljerd) with the support of Avicenna Research Institute and ACECR, in the field of laboratory production of embryos of superior breeds including dairy, beef, and dual-purpose cattle is the result of constant attempts of the Research Center.
