Presently, in spite of rapid developments in prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, they still play a significant role in human infections, mortalities, congenital disorders, abortion and infertility. Although modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods have kept some of them under control, new emergent infectious diseases (HIV, STIs and tuberculosis) raise public concern. Nowadays, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) associated with infertility and recurrent abortion have drawn the worldwide attention. It is essential to address these diseases in public health dilemmas since they can easily be transmitted vertically and horizontally. With respect to the need of society, Avicenna Research Institute decided to found Reproductive Infections Department in order to conduct the relevant scientific projects. Filed of Activity: - Detection of sexually transmitted infections
- Detection of maternal infections affecting fetus
- Detection of infections leading to infertility
- Development of diagnostic and therapeutic methods of genital tuberculosis
- Detection of infectious factors associated with endometriosis
- Development of scientific, research and educational relationships in national and international level
