Reproductive Immunology is one of the branches of Immunology which deals with reproductive-related Immunologic events. Immunologic system of reproduction is so complicated that in spite of comprehensive study performed during the past five decades, many questions are yet to be answered. Nowadays, researchers believe that immunologic factors cause more than %50 of abortions. Available evidences show that in spite of presence of fetal antigens, mother’s immune system reaches to a new homeostatic state that not only does not cause abortion, but helps fetal organ’s development and growth. Therefore it seems that study of mother’s immune system during pregnancy can be useful in finding ways to prevent graft rejection. Indeed proliferation of placental trophoblasts is under the tight control during pregnancy not to permit invasion to the underlying tissues. Therefore, exploring the mechanisms of such phenomen may shed light to the factors involved in regulation of cancer cell proliferation. Today, due to excellent data available in the field, reproductive immunology has gained high place in immunology. Major priority: - Immunologic factors in Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) and recurrent implantation failure (RIF).
Minor priorities: - Immunologic aspects of endometriosis.
- Immunobiology of normal pregnancy.
- Immunologic factors of infertility.
- Immunocontraceptives.
