Nowadays, Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ARTs) have made remarkable changes in treatment of infertility as many babies are born by means of these methods annually.

Recent progresses in medical and biotechnology sciences has evolved embryology and related it to sciences such as molecular-cellular biology, genetics and reproductive immunology.

This department mainly focuses on recognition of the molecular mechanism of conception, embryo development, cloning, transgenesis, and assessment of the effect of environmental and chemical factors on genital organs as well as reproductive potentiality and transplantation of testis stem cells.

Fields of activities:

Research activities:

  1. Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ARTs) in human and animals with the aim of improvement of reproductive indices
  2. Culture and transplantation of testis and ovarian stem cells
  3. Production of transgenic cloned animals as bioreactors (production of biologic products)
  4. Improvement the contributing factors in cloning procedure to increase the viability of cloned embryos
  5. Improvement the epigenetic indices of in vitro produced embryos (specially transgenic cloned embryos)
  6. Establishment of the gametes and embryos cryo-bank in human and animals (for commercial and research purposes)
  7. Revival the animal species with the risk of extinction
  8. Production of embryonic cell lines (in laboratory and farm animals)
  9. Applied studies on stem cells
  10. Production of knockout and knockin mice

Educational activities:

  1. Setting up regular educational courses
  2. Supervising thesis’ projects (MS and PhD)
  3. Collaboration with other institutes in running common research projects
