In recent decades, scientific developments (especially in the field of biotechnology) have raised various ethical and legal controversies in human life. The controversies are dedicated not only to whole life span, but include pre and post events. At present, subjects such as "reproduction", "abortion", "cloning", "stem cells", "organ transplantation", "human genome" and "end of life care" significantly have brought about some philosophical, ethical and legal concerns. "Bio ethics" emerged as an academic discipline in the 1960s analyzes ethical aspects of using modern technologies. Obviously, it is difficult to analyze an issue from one point of view. Not only, issues related to modern life science can be evaluated from legal, religious, social, psychological and even economical aspects, but presumably, any precise philosophical and ethical analysis needs to consider all interrelated dimensions. Therefore, conducting interdisciplinary research in the field of medicine, life sciences and human sciences is necessary to analyze different issues. In order to reach this purpose, Bio law and Ethics Department acts on the following fields: - Ethical, legal, social and psychological analysis of modern biotechnologies
- Comprehensive study of applying assisted reproductive techniques such as embryo and gamete donation and abortion
- Comprehensive study of genetic research and test on animals and humans
- Comprehensive study of modern medical technologies such as cloning, stem cells and genetically modified animals
In addition, due to the wide range of debates in the field of ethics and bio law, other related subjects are also taken into account in the department. Members: - Rasekh, Mohammad (Ph.D)
