| Recombinant Technology Research Department | | |
In the early 1970s, Recombinant DNA Technology emerged in biology and led to a revolution in both biology and biotechnology. Technique of DNA cloning is the main basis of recombinant technology through which a foreign gene is inserted to the living cells in order to produce recombinant proteins in large quantities. Nowadays, application of recombinant technology in production of biopharmaceuticals and vaccines, medical diagnosis as well as improving quality and quantity of agricultural and nutritional products becomes more apparent. In this regard, most of the countries have made a policy to develop training programs in this field. Since the past decade, Iran has also designed and implemented strategic plans which some of them have been resultful so far. As a principal goal, Recombinant Technology Department is seeking to promote the application of this modern technique in the country. At the present the research priorities of this department have been focused on: - Production of recombinant pharmaceutical proteins and molecular studies using these proteins
- Isolation and purification of proteins or cells using new methods (e.g. magnetic particles ...)
